Young farmers are performing well in the horticultural sector
The rate of young farmers in the horticultural sector is more than 10 percent in Hungary. These farmers are taking risks above the average and are more open to new technologies and towards environmental issues – the survey of the Central Statistical Office (KSH) and the AgroStratéga reveals.
The joint online survey of the Central Statistical Office (KSH) and the AgroStratéga that was presented at a press conference on Thursday involved 200 respondents.
Laczka Éva, Deputy Chairman of the Central Statistical Office told at the press conference that horticultural production is taking place on 4 percent of the farmland in Hungary. The sector's output is more than 8 percent of the annual agricultural output. In 2013, 86 thousand horticultural farms were operating, 12 percent of this was operated by 10 500 young farmers – under age 40. (MTI)
