Billa sales grow in Romania
Rewe Group's Billa supermarket division has reported sales of EUR320 million for 2008, up around 10% on 2007, according to Newsin.
Billa currently has 34 stores and plans
to open a minimum of 10 new outlets this year and also eyeing
acquisitions. Rewe Group operates in Romania through Billa
supermarkets, Penny (including Penny XXL) discount stores and Selgros
cash & carries. According to another Romanian source, Rewe
Group's total turnover including Billa, Penny and Selgros, reached
EUR1.49 billion in 2008.
