Hypermarkets sell the most praline
The Hungarian chocolate market grow in volume by 11% in value by 16% last year. Total sales was almost HUF 60 billion.
According to Nielsen Research more than 30,000 tons were sold. The biggest increase was by pralines (+13%), by bars (+12%), by table (9%). One third of the volume were sold in stores with size 401-2500 sqm.
Almost every second table chocolate is sold in units smaller than 400 sqm. Chocolate is one of the most often sold privat label product. It has 21% market share in Hungary. At pralines it`s 20%, at bar of chocolate 15%.
The avarege prise increase last year was 3%, one kilo chocolate costs HUF 2,163 in December 2007. But by pralines the grow was 9% and the table chocolate cost 13% more than one year before.
