Smart glasses may come
Disposable plastic cups will be banned in the European Union from 2021. A Hungarian startup, Clevercup, would replace disposable plastic cups in coffee shops with smart glasses made of Clevercup plastic.
Clevercup glasses are surrounded by a silicone strap with a QR code on it. This QR code does not rub off the glass during washing. Once the guest has purchased the glass, they can register with the internet to replenish their balance.
The next time if you go for a coffee, just touch your glass to the scanner and the system will detect that the guest is back and record your purchase in the loyalty system. (Forbes.hu, origo.hu)
