Significantly decreasing cereal harvest to be expected in 2009
Due to the dry weather cereal harvest may be reduced up to 30 percent, compared to last year’s harvest –said Vancsura József the Chief Executive Officer of National Association of Grain Growers (GOSZ).
The National Association of Grain Growers (GOSZ) estimates that a total of 5.4 million tonnes of cereals grain harvest to be expected in Hungary. Three and a half million tonnes of wheat to be expected. This would be a two million tonnes decline compared to previous year's production. In the cases of barley and rye, the decrease in production may exceed 30 percent – reports MTI.
