Domestic egg packing house prices have increased significantly

According to data from the Central Statistical Office, Hungary purchased 9.8 thousand tons of shell eggs from the international market in the first seven months of 2025 (–41 percent compared to the same period of the previous year), of which 27.5 percent fewer, 7.8 thousand tons of fresh eggs, were imported. Shell egg exports decreased by 16.5 percent to 5.8 thousand tons, of which fresh egg exports amounted to 1.2 thousand tons (+70 percent) between January and July 2025.

According to data from AKI PÁIR, the packing house price of caged table eggs (M+L) in Hungary was 63.30 forints/piece in the first thirty-six weeks of 2025, which exceeded the average price of the same period in 2024 by 30.7 percent. The packing house price of M size-class boxed eggs increased by 28.5 percent to HUF 65.97/piece, and that of L size-class boxed eggs increased by 26.5 percent to HUF 76.35/piece. The packing house price of M trayed eggs increased by 31.7 percent to HUF 57.16/piece, and that of L trayed eggs increased by 36.3 percent to HUF 63.65/piece. The packing house price of deep-litter table eggs (M+L) was HUF 72.31/piece in the first thirty-six weeks of 2025, which is 27.0 percent higher than the average price for the same period in 2024.
