Waberer’s Group’s profit increased significantly in the second quarter
Waberer’s Group’s sales revenue increased by 7.2 percent to 203 million euros in the second quarter, while earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) reached 18 million euros in the period under review, which is a 68 percent increase year-on-year – the company published its second-quarter and half-year financial results on the Budapest Stock Exchange (BSE) website on Tuesday.
According to a statement sent to MTI, the company’s consolidated sales revenue, which provides complex logistics and insurance services, increased by 3.6 percent to 397.4 million in the first six months, and the most important performance indicator, EBIT, reached 29 million euros, which is a 51 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) increased to EUR 32.7 million in the second quarter and to EUR 58.3 million by the end of the first half of the year, representing an increase of 30.0 and 23.4 percent, respectively.
Net profit (excluding unrealized currency effects) jumped by 155 percent to EUR 12.2 million in the second quarter, while it reached EUR 17.8 million in the period between January and June, representing an increase of 136.6 percent year-on-year.
The logistics segment’s EBIT indicator decreased by 6 percent to EUR 7.1 million in the period between April and June, and by 16 percent to EUR 8.5 million in the first half of the year, while sales revenue fell by 3 percent to EUR 164 million in the second quarter and by 7 percent to EUR 320 million in the first half of the year, which was mainly explained in the report by the fleet reduction implemented at the Polish subsidiary (LINK) and the restructuring of the in-house logistics segment’s customer portfolio. This was offset by the growth in sales revenue from waste transport and third-party warehouse development activities.
The synergy effects from the acquisition of Magyar Posta Biztosító and Magyar Posta Életbiztosító in the insurance segment are already visible in the spectacularly expanding revenue and EBIT figures. The segment’s sales revenue exceeded EUR 39 million in the second quarter and amounted to EUR 77.6 million in the first half of the year. Year-on-year, the former grew by 92 percent and the latter by 89 percent. The business unit’s second-quarter EBIT was close to EUR 11 million, up 238 percent. The half-year EBIT of EUR 20.6 million is 124 percent higher than the level a year earlier.
