A significant increase in passenger traffic in the European Union in 2015
Passenger traffic in the European Union last year grew by about 4.7 percent, compared to 2014 – the EU's statistical office (Eurostat) announced on Monday.
The number of passengers was 918.3 million in the EU Member States last year. This is a 22 percent growth, compared to the low point of the financial crisis in 2009.
In the period under review, 45.2 percent of the passengers were passengers from other EU member countries, 37.2 percent from outside the EU and17.6 percent were domestic travelers. (Bajnok Artúr, MTI)
