Bread prices will increase significantly in the autumn
According to the grain-milling industry participants, bread prices may increase significantly by as much as 15 percent in the autumn. Retailers, consider that a more moderate, single-digit price increase will come. Due to the unusually hot, dry period, the purchase price of cereals increased all over the world, including Hungary.
Compared to last year's 4.2 tons per hectare this year an average of 3.7 tons are expected to be harvested. The domestic prices are primarily pulled by the world market prices.
According to Vancsura József, president of the National Association of Grain Producers, this is probably only a temporary effect, but the significant increase in wheat price will be built into the retail prices in 30-60 days. (Világgazdaság Online, after Népszabadság)
