Cherries are significantly more expensive this year
According to data from the Hungarian Central Statistical Office, the cherry harvest in Hungary has fluctuated between 8.6 and 12.0 thousand tons/year in the past ten years. Experts have indicated that the domestic cherry harvest this year will be 2-3 thousand tons due to unfavorable weather.

According to data from the Hungarian Central Statistical Office, imports of fresh cherries in Hungary fell from 1,433 tons to 56 tons in 2024 compared to the previous year. Cherry exports increased by 54 percent to 367 tons in the same period.
According to AKI PÁIR data, domestic cherries entered the Budapest Wholesale Market in the 20th week, one week later than the previous year, at a price of 3,200–3,500 forints/kilogram
The producer price of cherries increased by 125 percent to 2,800 forints/kilogram in the 20th–24th week of 2025 compared to the average price of the same period of the previous year. In the Budapest consumer markets, cherries were sold at a price between 3,000 and 3,500 forints in the 24th week.
