The price of paprika in Poland is falling significantly
In Poland, the warm weather in August had a positive effect on pepper production, as a result of which the supply on wholesale markets expanded significantly and prices decreased, FruitVeB reported.
After stabilization at the end of July, the price drop began at the beginning of August, which was due to the sudden onset of warm weather. Red bell peppers currently cost 4–5 PLN per kilogram (370–465 HUF/kg), which is roughly in line with the price level experienced in the same period last year and is only 6% higher than the five-year average.
The price of green peppers on larger markets ranges between 3–3.4 PLN/kg (280–315 HUF/kg), while white peppers range between 3.4–3.6 PLN/kg (315–335 HUF/kg). Yellow peppers remain the most expensive, for which they are asked for 5–6 PLN/kg (465–560 HUF/kg) on wholesale markets.
The expansion of supply is expected to push prices down further, while producers and traders must adapt to changing market conditions.
