Surplus at Hungarian trade balance
Over the course of January–April 2008, the value of exports was HUF 6,394 billion, while that of imports totalled up to HUF 6,309 billion, according to preliminary results.
The value of the exports is estimated
to have expanded by 19 percent, while that of imports by 15 percent
as compared to the same period of 2007. In Euro terms, exports grew
by 15, while imports by 12 percent. The trade balance showed a
surplus of HUF 86 billion (EUR 331 million), which means an
improvement of HUF 164 billion (EUR 638 million) as compared to the
deficit of HUF 78 billion (EUR 307 million) in the same period of the
previous year.
In April 2008, according to first
estimates, exports amounted to HUF 1,637 billion, while the value of
imports reached HUF 1,625 billion, which levels are higher by 27 and
22 percent, respectively, than that of the same month in 2007. The
Euro value of exports rose by 23, while that of imports increased by
18 percent over the equivalent month of the preceding year. In April,
the trade balance showed a surplus of HUF 12 billion (EUR 54
million), the balance improved by HUF 51 billion (EUR 210 million)
compared to the same month of 2007.
In April, the share of the European
Union Member States was 78 percent in exports and 69 percent in
imports.
