Trade balance showed a surplus of 33 million euros
According to KSH, national statistic office in December 2008, exports amounted to HUF 1,163 billion (EUR 4,371 million), while the value of imports reached HUF 1,186 billion (EUR 4,447 million).
The Euro value of exports fell by 17
percent that of imports decreased by 18 percent over the equivalent
month of the preceding year. In December, the trade balance showed a
deficit of HUF 24 billion (EUR 76 million), the balance improved by
HUF 10 billion (EUR 53 million) compared to the same month of 2007.
The share of the European Union Member States was 75 percent in
exports and 65 percent in imports.
Over the course of January–December
2008, the value of exports was HUF 18,288 billion (EUR 72,784
million), while that of imports totalled up to HUF 18,265 billion
(EUR 72,752 million) according to preliminary results. In Euro terms,
both exports and imports grew by more than 5 percent. The trade
balance showed a surplus of HUF 24 billion (EUR 33 million), which
means an improvement of HUF 54 billion (EUR 153 million) as compared
to the deficit of HUF 30 billion (EUR 120 million) in the previous
year.
