The economic sentiment in the euro area and the EU improved in January
The euro area economic sentiment rose to a five-month high in January and a seven-month high in the European Union, according to a report released by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG EcFin) on Thursday.
According to the EcFin announcement, the euro area Member States’ economic sentiment index (ESI) increased to 102.8 points in January from a peak of 101.3 in December. The market expected a slight improvement of 101.8 points for January. (MTI)
