Consumer confidence improved in May in the euro area and in the EU
Consumer confidence in the euro area and the European Union has improved significantly in May, according to a survey by the European Commission’s Economic and Financial Directorate (DG ECFIN).
According to preliminary results released on Tuesday, the confidence index rose by 0.8 points to minus 6.5 points in the eurozone of 19 countries, which has been the best since last October.
The value of the April indicator was revised from minus 7.9 to minus 7.3 points during the review. Analysts expected minus 7.6 points in May.
In the 28 Member States of the European Union, the consumer confidence index rose by 1.1 points to minus 6.2 points. (MTI)
