Improving economic conditions in tourism – service provider confidence is stabilizing
Although the tourism confidence index remains in negative territory, it showed improvement for the first time in three months in November, according to the latest data from the Tourism Business Index (TKI). Industry players still perceive the situation as unfavorable, but expectations have turned more positive overall.
Accommodations continued to weaken, while the other segment is strengthening
In November 2025, the TKI value was –10 points, which is 4 points increase compared to the previous month, but still 8 points behind last year’s level. The subgroups performed differently:
-
Accommodation services: –18 points (–2 points worse)
-
Hospitality: –13 points (–3 points better)
-
Other tourism sector: 0 points (+9 points of significant growth)
The November TKI is 7 points lower than the EU services sector confidence index, but more favorable than the indicators for industry, trade and construction.
Regional duality: Southern and Western Transdanubia in a particularly difficult situation
Most of the regions expect deteriorating prospects, with the exception of the central region, which shows a more stable trend. The indicators of Southern Transdanubia have shown a continuous and marked decline in the past year and a half, while Western Transdanubia and Northern Great Plain have turned negative in recent months.
Cautious optimism for early 2025
Expectations for the next three months are mixed:
