The Nébih laboratory confirmed bird flu in a liver goose farm of approximately 17,660 individuals in Tiszaföldvár, Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County. The presence of the disease was highlighted by the slightly increased mortality and nervous system symptoms. The H5N1 subtype of the virus was detected in the samples taken immediately. The authority designated a 3 km radius protection zone and an extended surveillance zone around the farm. The eradication of the herd and the epidemiological investigation are currently underway.
Preventing the onset and further spread of the disease is crucial for the entire poultry sector
It is essential to fully comply with disease control measures on livestock farms. Furthermore, it is important to prevent cross-infection from wild birds, to be vigilant among livestock keepers and veterinarians, and to send samples quickly and follow the usual protocols in case of suspicion.
