Eurozone economic sentiment deteriorated in January
The euro area economic sentiment index fell to a nine-month low in January, according to a survey by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Economic and Financial Affairs (DG EcFin).
In January, the Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) fell by 1.1 points to 112.7 points, a nine-month low, instead of the expected growth of 114.5 points.
The ESI also fell by 1.4 points to 111.6 points in the 27 Member States of the European Union.
However, despite the decrease, the achieved values are high in both regions in terms of the long-term average.
