Monthly retail sales in the euro area rose as expected in January
In January, retail sales in the euro area grew at the rate expected by analysts in December, surpassing the estimated growth rate of a year earlier.
The European Union’s statistical office, Eurostat, said on Wednesday that, in January, retail sales increased by 0.6 percent in the 19 member states of the eurozone and by 0.5 percent in the 27 member states of the European Union.
Monthly retail sales declined 1.1 percent in the euro area and 1 percent in the EU in December. (MTI)
