January brought 13.4 percent lower production prices in agriculture
In January 2014 agricultural production prices dropped 13.4 percent from the level of January 2013. The price of vegetable products was down 19.6 percent and the price of livestock/products of animal origin reduced by 0.7 percent from a year earlier. Cereal crops were 25.1 percent less expensive than they were in January 2013; wheat was purchased from farmers for HUF 52,700 and HUF 44,200 was paid for corn. The price of industrial vegetables decreased by 27.8 percent from January 2013 – oily crops’ price plunged 31.5 percent from the level of twelve months earlier. Slaughter livestock production prices were 5.4 percent lower. Farmers could sell their eggs for 14.3 percent less but milk’s production price was up 16.4 percent.
