Nyugati tér McDonald’s will close on the evening of January 16
As the last stop of its restaurant transformation program, the Hungarian McDonald’s plans to close Meki® on Nyugati tér, which has been chosen as one of the most beautiful McDonald’s fast food restaurants in the world, for about half a year. The historic building is being rebuilt using special interior design elements and natural materials.
Located on the main wall shared with one of the architectural symbols of Budapest, the Nyugati railway station, the building was built with a mixture of neo-renaissance and neo-romanticism, historicizing like the railway station. The restaurant keeps these style elements to this day and will keep them after the transformation. However, in terms of the restaurant experience, the restaurant chain is prepared with very 21st century solutions.
The interior design is based on McDonald’s RAY-design concept, which is complemented by unique mirrored glass surfaces, copper-clad lamps and several special furniture elements that match the design. All interior design elements will be created from real, natural materials: cast terrazzo floors and wood and copper cladding will be used. The decorative painting of the interior pillars is done by a restorer.
