Here are the first results: the CO2 emissions of domestic agriculture are that much lower
We see data on greenhouse gas emissions not only at the global and EU level, but also for domestic producers. The first results of the K&H agricultural CO2 calculator, which was launched last year, show not only how the environmental burden of each sector changes within the sector, but also that the emissions of domestic agriculture are only a third of the average of Western agriculture.
Climate change, the conditions of the Common Agricultural Policy and stricter consumer expectations are all moving agriculture in the direction of environmentally friendly production. The K&H Group and the Institute of Agricultural Economics (AKI) therefore created an initiative to fill the gap last year, launching the K&H agricultural CO2 calculator – and now we already have the first results. The calculator available online shows the carbon emissions of the given economy based on the companies’ own real production data and the sector’s international industry statistics. The calculator specifically examines greenhouse gases (GHG) of agricultural origin – i.e. carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide – for direct (Scope1) and indirect (Scope2) emissions.
