3,000 volunteers will serve on Friday and Saturday in the biggest food collection campaign of the year organized by the Hungarian Food Bank Association. Helpers wearing green vests will ask customers to donate in 213 Tesco, ALDI and Auchan stores across the country, who can provide support to the needy living in the vicinity of each collection point with their donations.

The Food Bank is one of the most influential charitable organizations in our country, and their name is associated with, among other things, the country’s largest Christmas non-perishable food collection campaigns. Most recently, during the Advent period, they were able to put together 5-kilo donation packages for 70,000 people as a result of a weekend event. Since last year, food collection has also been held in May. At that time, seeing the record inflation and the sharp increase in the needs of the needy, they asked for the support of the population, and to their surprise, people’s willingness to help exceeded even the holiday period: 95 thousand kilos of food were collected, which meant 88 kilos were donated every minute of the one and a half day campaign.

Will you have 100,000 kilos this year?

The “Great Spring Food Collection” will take place on May 10-11 in 213 Tesco, ALDI and Auchan stores in 104 municipalities of the country. Between 2:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon and 8:00 p.m. on Saturday evening, a total of 3,000 volunteers will ask for and receive donations from customers.

The Food Bank requests that those who can, think of the people in need and put one more non-perishable food item in their basket, which can be dropped off at the collection points next to the cash registers after payment. According to experience, canned meat, canned ready meals, rice, pasta and matching sauces, as well as long-lasting milk are most needed, but in view of the upcoming Children’s Day, sweets that do not require refrigeration will also be gladly accepted and distributed.
