Here is the latest broadcast of the GVH Podcast
What rules do influencers, or opinion leaders in Hungarian, have to comply with? Who is responsible if the influencer does not display the ad clearly? Those who listen to the latest podcast series of the Economic Competition Authority (GVH) will get answers to these questions, among others.
The digital world, including influencers, is an almost unavoidable part of consumers’ lives, which is why the Economic Competition Authority pays particular attention to the advertising activities of opinion leaders. In addition to the inspection, the GVH also helps opinion leaders with its information, such as the “Information on influencer marketing” publication and the latest podcast, in how they can legally advertise.
The guide of the GVH, updated at the end of last year, shows in a practice-oriented way, by illustrating positive and negative examples, how it is possible to legally meet the expectations of providing information to consumers, for example in the case of a post containing only written text or a video post. The guide thus provides direct and detailed support that can be used in everyday practice for companies advertising with influencers, media and advertising agencies, and opinion leaders themselves.
In the past period, the national competition authority has closed several cases in which influencer agencies and independent opinion leaders were also involved. It turned out that a sports betting advisory site deceived consumers with the help of influencers, and in May, the competition authority investigation against the distributor of Norbi Update products ended with a fine. The GVH continues to pay close attention to advertisements appearing on social media platforms.
