IT-audit: hardly known in Hungary, almost an obligatory routine abroad
Firms that have their IT systems audited from time to time can save significant amounts of money from their IT budget. Still, in Hungary one quarter of companies doesn’t use this type of service, while 17 percent only conduct internal examinations – Zsolt Takács, managing director of Laurel Group member AdmiNetwork Kft. told our magazine.
Regular IT audits can contribute to cutting IT costs significantly. This few-day procedure practically guarantees that the firm’s IT infrastructure is always cost-effective, secure and optimised for performing current tasks. The bigger the company is, the more money it can save by having the audit done. There are several types of IT audits: some are comprehensive, others focus on one domain only such as system security or software licence fees, etc. With the passing of time IT systems age as well, they become obsolete and are unable to follow the changes in the company’s organisational structure. Internal IT experts’ main task is operating the system and don’t have the time or expertise to perform the audit. This is the reason why external experts have to be called in to get the job done – in Western Europe and in the USA firms have already realised this.
