The 5th Bodrogi-12th Tisza PET Cup ended again with a record
The participants of the PET Cup collected a record amount of waste: 175 tons of garbage were removed from the Tisza and Bodrog.
At the 5th Bodrogi – 12th Tisza PET Cup competition, 175 tons of waste were collected this year, which is an absolute record in the history of the PET Cup. During the 9-day competition, nearly 350 pet thieves worked tirelessly to clean the Bodrog and the Tisza, not only in the name of the competition, but also in the name of environmental protection. The sections between Sárospatak and Tokaj were the most polluted, but thanks to the perseverance of the participants, the area was freed from a significant amount of waste.
Record achievements and challenges
This year’s PET Cup daily record was 36 tons of waste collected by the participating teams during the competition. The contestants had to deal not only with waste, but also with scorching heat and insect attacks. Despite this, the pet thieves managed to surpass the results of the previous years.
The biggest prize of the competition, the title of the guardian of the cup, went to the Siemens Energy team, while the Amerikalózoz took second place, and the Aktív Magyarország team took third place.
