Small agricultural enterprises can once again apply for support
The applications are expected from November 17 until the end of the month – announced the Minister of Agriculture at his Monday press conference in Budapest.
István Nagy announced that there is no budget in this year’s final, now seventh stage of the tender for small agricultural plants, and decisions will be made based on needs. Preference will be given to applications that target a higher demand for live labor or develop a disadvantaged area.
The call published in October 2020 received 17,305 applications in 2 years
The budget was increased from HUF 2.5 billion to HUF 32.5 billion last year, and then to HUF 52 billion. In the past few days, a decision was made to support another 2,132 applications worth HUF 11.8 billion, he added. According to the minister, the support of small agricultural enterprises also proves that the government assumes responsibility for the countryside, so that the Hungarian agriculture and food industry can be competitive at the international level. In the application system, all plants, from the smallest to the largest, receive support, because the country needs all of them, every producer must be provided with the opportunity to develop, he said. István Nagy emphasized that after 2010, the Hungarian countryside was on a growth path, the sale of agricultural land and the food industry stopped, emigration and redundancies were replaced by well-thought-out developments. The new agricultural policy helps financial security and production security at the same time, makes it easier for farmers to get credit, and strengthens labor-intensive sectors. The head of the ministry considers the continuation of subsidies, the effective use of rural development resources, and the expansion of rural opportunities for income generation to be essential for preserving the results.
According to the deputy state secretary responsible for the implementation of rural development programs, support for small agricultural enterprises is the most popular measure of the rural development program
György Zsolt Papp announced that primary producers, individual entrepreneurs and micro-entrepreneurs who carry out agricultural activities or process agricultural products, who have lived in a settlement with less than 10,000 inhabitants for at least one year, or who live in a farm area belonging to a settlement with a larger population, can apply for the tender. As a result, only an increase in production value or sales revenue is expected in 4 years, the details of which can be read in the call for proposals.
The non-refundable subsidy of 15,000 euros (almost HUF 6.5 million) can be used freely for agricultural activities. 75 percent of the amount is transferred immediately after handing over the supporting document, the rest after 3 years. The procedure is simplified, and training is also organized for the applicants in order to provide them with economic and entrepreneurial skills.
