Open Market Day again in Szombathely
Just like last year, the Open Market Day will be held this year (nationally) in the Szombathely City Market on Friday, September 20, 2024, between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. The goal of the organizers is to present fairgrounds and markets as a community space as a separate event, as a supplement to a market day, and to promote the purchase of domestic, high-quality products in markets and fairgrounds with nationally-renowned communication.
At the open day, 15 tenants have so far indicated that they would present their products to customers by setting up tasting points. For these, the organizers provide tables and trays that can be placed in front of the counter. The regional head of Agrotourism, Zsolt Matoltsy, was also invited to the event, because the organizers believe that the markets have a place in the tourism circulation of the given city. The regional staff of the Hungarian National Rural Network also supports the open day by going abroad. The organizers are looking for opportunities to work with the sector players (product councils active in agriculture, Hungarian National Rural Network, Agricultural Marketing Center, National Chamber of Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture, fair halls, markets, NGOs, Vas County Tourism Association, Association of the National Interest Representation of Small-Scale Product Producers and Service Providers, Pannon Local Product Nonprofit Association) together, communicating together, how they could operate the fairs and markets more efficiently, and represent the interests of local producers and traders. They have a lot of ideas and suggestions; and these market experience days, in their opinion, help to develop professional collaborations starting with joint cases that can be started in small steps and move cases forward towards a solution. After all, they all have the same goal and interest: adapting local producers, markets, and fair halls to the competitive market situation.
At the end of August, the Vásárcsarnok won the “Helyben vagyunk” trademark. It is not just a logo, but a symbol of the authenticity and reliability of local REL channels. When customers see this mark, they can be sure that the location behind the product represents high quality. The owner of the trademark is Pannon Helyi Termék Nonprofit Kft., they undertook the mentoring and professional cooperation of the karta membership in close cooperation with the staff of the National Interest Representation of Small-Scale Producers. At the ceremonial opening, I would like to hand over the trade mark to those tenants (primary producers, small producers, businesses with their own processing plants) within the fair hall, with karta membership, whose products are convinced that they represent reliable, high quality, and that the tenants meet the basic requirements of the trade mark: authenticity, ethical behavior.
