Lidl Hungary continues its price reduction campaign. This time, one of the Hungarians’ favorite vegetables, tomatoes, has become cheaper in stores, of which the discount chain offers a huge selection. Customers can choose from more than 20 types and packaging of tomatoes, and all of them can be purchased cheaper, starting today. The average price reduction is 8%, but the 500-gram date tomatoes and the kilo-packaged hamburger tomatoes have become cheaper by 17%, while the 200-gram organic date cherry tomatoes have become cheaper by 21%. But even 1 kg of Ardiles Cherry tomatoes can be purchased for 20% less, which means a discount of 500 forints.
Special tomato varieties in the range
Lidl sold more than 14 million kg of tomatoes in the past year. The most popular are cluster tomatoes, but in order to meet customer needs, the range also includes many special varieties. Thus, on the shelves of the supermarket chain you can also find delicacies such as the heart-shaped Cour de Bouef tomato variety, which is characterized by a rich, sweet-sour taste and a fleshy, juicy interior. Or the traditional Italian San Marzano with its particularly rich taste and versatile use, or the Cukorfalat tomato – which, true to its name, is the sweetest variety of cherry tomatoes.
“As the winner of the Vegetable and Fruit Retailer of the Year award for the fifth time in a row in the Store of the Year competition, the offer of high-quality vegetables and fruits is essential for us, and in addition, customers can choose from at least 150 types of fresh products in the stores every week. However, we also consider it important to provide these high-quality products to our customers at the best possible price, thus supporting a health-conscious diet containing as many vegetables and fruits as possible”
– informed Tibor Kovács, the company’s managing director responsible for food procurement.
Another bonus from Lidl
In addition to the new price reduction, the supermarket chain is offering even more promotions that are renewed every week and within the framework of the Lidl Plus loyalty program. In addition, users can now buy a given product every day in May with a 40% discount as part of a so-called flash sale. The “flash sale” applies to a given product on a given day, which can be used until the end of the day and only once.
