Iran starts exporting egg to Russia
The latest report of the Agricultural Economics Research Institute (AKI) reveals that in part due to the mutual trade embargo between the European Union and Russia, Iran has started exporting egg to Russia. Iran produces 20,000 tons of egg for export and from this they plan to sell 5,000 tons in Russia. In the first 34 weeks of the year 100kg egg cost EUR 125.46 in the EU – up 1 percent; in Hungary M and L sized egg sales grew in both value and volume, and the price of egg was HUF 20.9 per piece. Data by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) indicates that on 1 June 2014 there were 3.095 million pigs in Hungary, 7 percent more than a year earlier. From this stock 841,000 pigs were owned by individual farmers and 2.254 million were kept by economic organisations.
