Ipsos: We are looking forward to the Olympics
Almost three-quarters (72 percent) of the international public and two-thirds of the Hungarians will take a glimpse to the Olympic broadcasts. Most people (65 percent) will follow the events by television, 23 percent online, 6 percent will use smartphones and 4 percent tablets.
The television and the Internet are the preferred mediums among Hungarians. 63 and 21 percent mentioned, that they will watch the Olympics with the help of theses devices. Only 2 percent will follow the races by using a mobile phone, none will use tablets. The sport fans of the world are interested in mostly athletics and football (20-20 percent), but a relatively large amount of people are interested in swimming (16 percent) and in gymnastics (14 percent). The Hungarian fans are interested mostly in swimming (44 percent), water polo matches (13 percent), soccer (10 percent), and canoe races (8 percent). The majority are looking forward to a peaceful event, 63 percent believe that the Olympics will not be overshadowed by terrorist attacks – these are the main findings of the survey of Ipsos, carried out in 24 countries, polling 20 thousand people.
