Hungary presents industrial and logistics real estate developments at the MIPIM exhibition in Cannes
Hungary will focus on showcasing industrial and logistics real estate developments that support strong foreign direct investment inflows at the world’s leading real estate development exhibition, MIPIM, in Cannes from March 11-14; the focus will be on the economic attractiveness of the country’s rural cities and the expansion of the industrial-logistics sector, the National Investment Agency (HIPA) and the Real Estate Developers Roundtable Association (IFK), which brings together the largest real estate developers, announced in a joint statement with MTI.
Ernő Takács, President of (IFK), emphasized in the statement, based on data from real estate consultant CBRE, that the development of demand for industrial real estate last year was also part of the strengthening trend that has been taking place since 2021. The net rental level was around 380 thousand square meters in Budapest, the same as the previous year, and was increasingly strengthening in rural cities.
On the construction side, a similar amount of 250 thousand square meters is expected to be handed over in Budapest in 2025, similar to last year, while in the countryside, the expansion may be more modest, 144 thousand square meters, after last year’s record year (250 thousand square meters), but next year it may reach 170 thousand square meters. Office developments are also in a good position, with 530 thousand square meters currently under construction in Budapest, although the vast majority of this, 400 thousand square meters, is being built for state-owned entities.
“We expect stronger economic growth by 2025, especially in the industrial production and manufacturing sector. Foreign investments in Hungary, especially developments around the BMW, CATL and BYD factories, will further strengthen our logistics and industrial real estate market,”
– he concluded.
