Interview with Kinga Daradics, the new CEO of eMAG: Vision and innovations in e-commerce
In an interview with Pénzcentrum, Kinga Daradics, the newly appointed CEO of eMAG, spoke about the challenges facing the company, its future plans and the future of Hungarian e-commerce. In the interview, the major investments affecting the company, the giga investments in Hungary and the new service experiments aimed at positioning eMAG as a wide-ranging retail player were discussed.
Management changes and transformation
In the past period, eMAG went through several top management changes, and the merger with Extreme Digital was also completed. According to Kinga Daradics, they are concentrating on the future of the company, with special emphasis on improving the customer experience.
“May was particularly intense for us, we announced several new services on a weekly basis”
– he told. eMAG aims to continuously improve the customer experience and provide convenience as well as time and cost savings for its customers.
Financial challenges and investments
Based on the business reports, eMAG’s domestic sales revenue was HUF 78.3 billion in the period April 2022 – March 2023, which represents a decrease of HUF 12 billion compared to the previous year. And their profit after tax increased from a loss of 4.9 billion to 9.8 billion. According to Kinga Daradics, there are periods in the life of companies when larger investments must be made in order to harvest the fruits later.
“In the past period, we put a lot of emphasis on logistics developments; for example, we created a 117,000 square meter warehouse, to which the group contributed more than 100 million euros”
he highlighted.
