More cat food ads on television
Dog food retail sales valued at HUF 14 billion between December 2013 and May 2014. Value sales rose 1 percent but volume sales dropped 2 percent. Stores with a floor space bigger than 400m² realised 78 percent of value sales. 92 percent more, HUF 358 million was spent on television ads than in the base period of 12 months earlier. Cat food sales amounted to HUF 9 billion – 6 percent more than in the base period; volume sales were up 4 percent. Stores bigger than 400m² are important here as well, but the 51-200m² channel also had a considerable share from value sales: 21 percent. Manufacturers spent more than 4 times more, HUF 1.6 billion on commercials.
