The police are preparing for an intensive season and an increasing number of visitors at Lake Balaton and Lake Velence
The police are preparing for an intensive tourist season and an increasing number of visitors on Lake Balaton and Lake Velence, said the head of the Veszprém County Police Headquarters on Wednesday at a press conference following the meeting of the Balaton Public Safety Coordination Committee between Balatonfüred and Tihany on board the Szent Miklós ship.
Brigadier Balázs Dékány, in the company of the police chiefs of Fejér, Somogy and Zala counties, said: public safety in the area around Balaton and Lake Velence has been outstanding for years and traffic safety is also good.
During the tourist season, the police must prepare for a significant increase in the number of tourists and people driving around the lakes, he said. This gives the police extra work both in terms of public and traffic safety, and their tasks also increase during events.
