Smart green packaging
Researchers at the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE) are experimenting with innovative packaging solutions.

One of these is smart packaging: a signalling system that can identify, indicate or record changes in the quality of a product.
“These indicators can be used to signal the appearance of gases or compounds, which reflect that the deterioration processes has started or optimal storage conditions have changed”,
says Dr Beatrix Szabó-Nótin, associate professor at the Institute of Food Science and Technology of MATE.
Another packaging innovation is the biodegradable Algae bottle, which consists of a mixture of agar powder and water. //
