Hungarian companies do not excel in terms of innovation, but they take the digital transition very seriously
For the sixth semester, K&H measures the innovation activity of the domestic medium and large enterprise sector. The K&H innovation index formed from the data of the research rose to 29 points in the second half of 2023, which is one point higher than the low point measured in the previous half, but can still be called weaker than average.
Among the data, the topic of digital transition clearly stands out, because the survey reveals that half of the companies continue to develop dynamically in this area. The connection of existing software is less common than in the past, and the preparation for remote work has also fallen to half of the previous level – but this can easily be explained by the fact that the company that wanted to do this has already done so.
60 percent of company employees use computers for their work. Among them, the proportion of Internet users is constantly increasing, which now reaches 74 percent (this proportion was only 49 percent in the first half of 2021). The percentage of people using a portable IT device for their work is increasing every year, reaching 56 percent in the second half of 2023 (this percentage was only 39 percent in the first half of 2021).
Companies are trying to make the most of the opportunities inherent in digitization. It is increasingly common and shows significant progress (16 percent) that companies analyze the large amount of digital data collected in detail (Big Data analysis). The analysis of data extracted from smart devices and sensors, which is now used by nearly a third of companies (28 percent), also shows a growing trend, interestingly, the geolocation data that can be extracted from the same devices attracts less and less attention.
