Information technology in hospitality

“So far the economic recession hasn’t affected the HoReCa information technology (IT) sector. Partly this has to do with the reporting obligation via the National Tourism Data Supply Centre (NTAK) system, and also with the fact that IT doesn’t only help to cut costs, but also to generate extra sales revenue” – we learned from Sándor Bagdi, general manager of UCS RKeepeR.
At the moment the biggest priority for r_keeper is to make guest order processes autonomous, so that there is no need for a waiter or anyone behind the counter. This doesn’t only reduce costs, but also makes additional product recommendations to customers.

Gábor Várkonyi, CEO of CMO24: “The most important requirement of modern restaurant IT systems is to serve all business operations, irrespective of what kind of devices we are talking about. Cloud technology plays a vital role in this. Basically every process can be digitalised, and this can solve the biggest problem in the sector: not having enough workers. Plus the data provided by the new system can also facilitate operations, e.g. by analysing which those periods are when turnover is low, so that the opening hours can be set accordingly.”
Mr Bagdi added that half of Hungarian hospitality businesses don’t care about digital marketing at all, may be they are present on Google Maps and Facebook and that is it. Mr Várkonyi explained that by analysing the data from restaurant IT systems, managers can make better decisions. //
