Summer seasonal inspection begins
The summer seasonal inspection will start on Tuesday, July 15, and was ordered by András Tállai, the Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture (AM), who is in charge of food chain supervision, the ministry announced in a statement on Monday.
During the inspection series that will last until August 30, experts from Nébih and government agencies will inspect summer equestrian camps, spritz terraces, barbecue meat product manufacturers, mineral water bottlers and brine producers, and local farmers’ markets.
They added that the inspections of the target areas will be carried out by experts from county government agencies and district offices under the direction of the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih).
During this year’s inspection series, experts will conduct inspections in numerous areas – typically related to summer programs. Among other things, the animal health status of horses kept in summer riding camps, as well as the housing and operating conditions, will be examined. The focus will be on the food safety and quality of alcoholic beverages sold on seasonal spritz terraces, as well as the hygiene compliance of the facilities.
As an essential program of the summer, prepared meat and meat products intended for grilling – such as grilled sausages, marinated products, hamburger meat – will also be under scrutiny. During the inspections, the inspectors will pay special attention to the traceability of the ingredients of the products, as well as the self-inspection of the production plants. This year, the authority will also examine the food safety and hygiene compliance of mineral water bottling and soda water production facilities, the ministry announced.
It was highlighted that farmers’ markets are becoming more and more popular every year, as buyers trust that they can get high-quality small-scale products there. In order to avoid deception, the authority’s specialists will check the existence of small producer registration.
