Applications are now open for the 2026 Siemens Media Award
Artificial intelligence in agriculture or as a conversation partner, bio-waste recycling and a Hungarian winner who also took home the regional grand prize – this was the case with last year’s Siemens Media Award. Now, entries for the competition, which has been running for several years, are open again, and journalists and content creators who excel in technology topics will once again have the opportunity to compete on an international level.
The competition, titled “Purposeful Technology”, can now also be entered with media materials that show how technology helps sustainability or the development of the economy or society. The international company’s annual press award will be presented in 11 countries this year: in addition to Hungary, Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Israel, Kazakhstan, Poland, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia are announcing a competition.
Media content published between March 1, 2025 and February 28, 2026 can be submitted for the award, regardless of format or length, and there are no further restrictions on the topic.
“Year after year, more and more exciting technological innovations shape our everyday lives, and almost all of the content nominated last year at least touched on the innovations brought about by artificial intelligence. We are curious to see what will prove to be the most defining topic this year, and we are waiting for all applications, from authors of printed and online news portals, radio or television journalists, podcasters, as well as bloggers, YouTubers and other content creators alike”
– said Márk Arató, Head of Communications at Siemens Zrt.
The evaluation of the domestic applications is carried out by an independent professional jury. The jury members include the multiple-awarded Gyöngyi Sági, owner and editor-in-chief of digitrendi.hu, and communications specialist Enikő Vass, who also has several journalistic awards. The work of the board is strengthened this time by the new member Péter Szigeti, a media specialist with extensive experience as a journalist, editor-in-chief, content development and innovation manager.
The authors of the content selected in the top three will win VIP experience vouchers. The outstanding domestic applications will also advance to the regional competition, where they will be compared with the best entries from other countries by an international jury.
The top five entrants from the region will be invited to the award ceremony, which will be held in Budapest for the first time this year. The winner of the winning entry will be announced here, who will win a trip for two to the Salzburg Festival.
Entries will be accepted until 2026. The Hungarian jury is waiting for your submissions by March 16th at the email address mediapalyazat.hu@siemens.com.
