The watermelon season starts this weekend

The watermelon season starts this weekend in Hungary, the arable fruit is continuously ripening and within a few days will appear in the domestic market – the president of the National Association of Melon Producers informed Melon MTI on Tuesday.

Oravecz Tamás, president of the National Association of Melon Producers said that this year's melon season starts two weeks earlier, due to favorable spring. As the result of the longer harvest period, crop prospects are good. According to preliminary estimates, from the total production area of six thousandf hectares, about 220-230 thousand tons of melons will be harvested in Hungary. (MTI)
