The Syngenta’s Ócsa vegetables are sown from India to Brazil
Syngenta’s predecessor, the Sandoz Seeds, inaugurated the company’s Oceans Vegetable Research Institute on 2.5 acres thirty years ago, in 1987, where professionals now work on nearly ten times larger area on the breeding of 12 plant species. The vegetables bred in Ócsa are nowadays farmed with great success in many parts of the world.
This year, Syngenta’s vegetable business celebrates a dual jubilee: the Experimental Station in Ócsa opened its doors 30 years ago, and the global vegetable business branch is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year – Kenéz Éva, vegetable crop manager told.
The Sluis & Groot company was established in 1867 in the Netherlands where Nanne Sluis and Simone Groot began to deal with cabbage seeds in Enkhuizen. The Sluis & Groot, and its successors, began to develop, a great interest surrounded their farms both in the East and in the West.
