EU import levy on maize, rye and sorghum
The European Union puts 5.32 euros per tonne, approximately 1,645 HUF import levy on maize, rye and sorghum – the European Commission announced on Wednesday.
The European Commission justified the step with market trends, because, due to the increasing demand prices are falling. Brussels based on estimates of the international professional bodies expect that this year the corn harvest will be plentiful and at the end of the year 180 million tonnes of corn reserves will be in the stocks, compared to last year’s 13 million tonnes.
