Organic products are now also made at SPAR’s own meat plant
SPAR Hungary’s REGNUM meat processing plant in Bicske, where organic products are now also made, is 10 years old. In cooperation with Virágzó TKSZ Cooperative of Nyalka, 9 different tray-packaged organic pork products are produced under the SPAR Natur*pur brand name. 100 percent of the fresh organic meat comes from Hungarian farms, certified by organisations such as Biocontrol Hungary and Hungary Eco Guranatee. Last year the 7,900m² meat plant in Bicske produced 7,000 tons of private label meat products and packaged 8 million trays of meat for SPAR and INTERSPAR stores. 80 percent of the meat used was of Hungarian origin and the rest was imported mainly from Austria. Currently almost 50 different meat products are made under the REGNUM, SPAR and S-Budget brand names. Back in 2010 Regnum was the first meat processing plant in Hungary to obtain the ISO 22000:2005 food safety system certification. The factory celebrated its 10th birthday with many promotions and marketing activities throughout the year. On 7 November 2014 the plant celebrated at the Bicske headquarters with workers and partners in a real family atmosphere, in the presence of state secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Dr István Nagy, and Theodor Poppmeier and Fritz Poppmeier from SPAR Austria.
