These are the gifts Hungarian kids long for
Children want a pet, a mobile phone and a joint family holiday this Christmas – according to the responses of kindergarten and primary school students interviewed in the Etele Plaza Advent drawing competition. Organized by the shopping center, “What makes Christmas magical for you?” more than 1,600 applicants sent their drawings to the competition, and more than five hundred of them also wrote on them what the most beautiful Christmas gift would be for them.
The responding children receive an average of 5 presents at Christmas, but a third (36%) expect even more surprises. At the top of their wish list are electronic devices (20%), among which mobile phones, video games and headphones are the most popular. Every tenth young person wants an animal, primarily a dog and a kitten, but quite a few want to see a horse, hedgehog and chinchilla under the Christmas tree. The Lego building toy is similarly popular (8%), but the same proportion (8%) of children who only wish for the family to celebrate together this year.
“Our goal with this year’s competition was also to bring out the artistic vein and creativity of the children by drawing what makes Christmas magical for them. In addition, we also offered HUF 100,000 to the educational institution from which most works come. This time, the Cserepka János Baptista Primary School, Secondary School and Sports School were the most diligent of them all. The jury also selected 10 winning pictures, as well as a special prize winner, for which the winning children received a gift package”
