IKEA now offers electricity rates for IKEA Family members in Germany
IKEA has made a dynamic electricity tariff available to IKEA Family members in Germany – as an intermediary, with Cologne-based partner Svea Solar Deutschland GmbH. The essence of the scheme is that consumers pay for the electricity they actually use, without a fixed down payment or a “risk surcharge”, while the electricity is certified to come from 100% renewable sources.
The package includes the installation of a smart meter and an application in which users can track consumption and stock exchange prices in real time, thus – according to the service provider’s promise – it is easier to time energy demand to cheaper periods, typically with higher wind or solar energy production.
The Family benefits communicated by IKEA include, among others:
-
6 months free basic fee until February 1, 2026,
-
discounted basic fee (5.95 euros instead of 6.99 euros),
-
25 euros IKEA voucher after 6 months,
-
monthly contract can be cancelled.
A According to the company, savings of up to 400 euros per year can be achieved with the construction tied to stock market prices, and up to 600 euros for households with an electric car, solar system or heat pump, but due to the nature of dynamic pricing, the price risk is borne by the consumer.
