World Bank: global food prices threaten the political and social stability
According to Robert Zoellick, leader of the World Bank; global food prices reached a “dangerous level” and this would complicate the already fragile political and social relations in the Middle East.
Zoellick also warned that the impact of price increases could affect the whole of Central Asia. According to the datas of the World Bank; the food price increases since June 2010, have pushed 44 million people into deep poverty in the developing countries. And although in his view not the higher food prices were behind the changes in Egypt and in Tunisia, but this food situation can be an aggravating factor and the crisis may increase – reports Világgazdaság Online.
