III. Employer Branding Conference: Is the future already here?
On 4 June 2025, the first Sustainable Packaging Forum took place at the Pasarét Community House, initiated by the Association for Sustainable Packaging and organized by Marketing Art Kft. The event aimed to launch a meaningful dialogue on the current challenges and future opportunities of the packaging industry – with a special focus on environmental sustainability and industry collaboration.
Today, the packaging industry is under significant pressure: tightening regulations, changing consumer expectations, and ecological concerns all demand new approaches and innovative solutions. The Forum set out to support companies and professionals striving to balance economic efficiency with environmental responsibility.
The event was opened by Krisztina Rátonyi, followed by Miklós Nagy (CSAOSZ), who shared his thoughts on the role of packaging in sustainability efforts. Then Prof. Dr. Károly Belina (Neumann János University) provided a comprehensive overview of the theoretical foundations of sustainable packaging and the development of the regulatory environment.
Participants also gained insight into the practical steps toward carbon neutrality through a presentation by Péter Király (Carbonline Footprint Kft.), while Attila Avramucz (Univer) presented the practical challenges of the new PPWR EU regulation from the perspective of a food industry company.
After the coffee break, Rita Soós (Ministry of Agriculture) spoke about the sustainability role of international R&D projects, followed by Balázs Sipos (Sipospack Kft.), who introduced innovative packaging solutions. The morning session concluded with Szilvia Szabó (MOHU), who reported on sustainability initiatives beyond the EPR system.
The highlight of the afternoon program was a roundtable discussion that explored the link between sustainability and packaging at the level of daily operations. The panel was moderated by Péter Király (Carbonline Footprint Kft.), with the following participants:
- László Büki, founder and owner – BS Plastic Kft.
- Dr. Anita Vértes, managing director and owner – Pauker Printing House
- Krisztina Szabó, senior sustainability manager – Auchan Hungary
The day concluded with a sandwich lunch and networking session, providing opportunities for industry connections, personal exchanges of experience, and laying the groundwork for new professional collaborations.
The Association for Sustainable Packaging aims to continue offering active professional support to its members, providing a platform for knowledge sharing, showcasing best practices, and aligning the sustainability goals of the packaging industry. Based on the experience of the Forum, one thing is clear: industry cooperation is essential to achieving real change.
