This is how Hungarians shopped for Valentine’s Day this year
This year, there was significant demand for premium gastronomic products and last-minute gifts in the days leading up to Valentine’s Day. According to Kifli.hu, the number of orders increased by an average of 10 percent in the period leading up to February 14, which once again confirms that Hungarian customers are increasingly planning ahead for the festive occasion.

Hungarian Valentine’s Day customs continue to follow international trends
The most popular products this year were chocolates, fresh strawberries, champagne, as well as quality wines and cocktail specialties. More and more people chose gourmet meats, artisanal cheeses and baked goods suitable for the festive occasion, while special ice creams and wellness products were popular among singles. Last-minute buyers continued to prefer the classic flower-chocolate combination, while those who planned ahead purchased exclusive gifts days in advance.
The demand for premium products is growing year by year, which was also reflected in this year’s sales. Heart-shaped designs and products with red, pink, gold or black-gold packaging were particularly popular. Customers also sought out exclusive brands such as Cipriani and La Grande Épicerie de Paris, while Gerbeaud, Harrer, Valrhona and chocoME proved to be favorites in the artisanal chocolate market.
Hungarian Valentine’s Day customs continue to follow international trends, but at the same time they also show unique features: in our country, the holiday of love is not only for lovers, but more and more families and groups of friends also give each other gifts. Thanks to this, the demand for shared dinners and breakfasts is also gradually increasing.
