This is how the opening hours of the shops change during the week of the first of May

Labor Day, i.e. May 1, is traditionally a public holiday in Hungary. This year, the day falls on a Wednesday, which means most shops will be closed. In the following, we will review how the opening hours of major supermarket chains, gas stations, pharmacies and other shops will be on this day, as well as on the days before and after.

Store chain opening hours on May 1

Aldi: All Aldi discount stores will be closed on May 1. On Tuesday, April 30 and Thursday, May 2, customers are expected according to normal opening hours (usually 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m./10:00 p.m.).

Auchan: Auchan hypermarkets are also closed on May 1. On Tuesday, April 30 and Thursday, May 2, they will be open according to their usual opening hours (6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.).

CBA and Príma: Most of the CBA and Príma stores will be closed on Wednesday. However, since the units of the CBA chain operate in a franchise system, there may be exceptions. It is worth using the store finder application on the CBA website for accurate information. Opening hours on Tuesday, April 30 and Thursday, May 2 will be as usual (6:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.).

Lidl: Lidl discounters will also be closed on May 1. The stores will open as usual on April 30 and May 2 (6:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.).

Metro: Metro department stores will be closed on May 1. They will be open as usual on Tuesday, April 30 and Thursday, May 2 (5:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.).

Penny: Penny discounters are also closed on May 1. On April 30 and May 2, they will be open according to the usual opening hours (6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.).

Spar and Interspar: These stores will also be closed on May 1. However, Spar express stores at OMV gas stations are open and will operate according to normal opening hours on April 30 and May 2 (6:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.).

Tesco: Tesco stores will also be closed on May 1. They will be open as usual on April 30 and May 2 (6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.).
